Welcome to the forum! You're going to need to provide us with more information. Type of cooking? Continuous read? Wired? Wireless? WiFi or bluetooth? Stand alone. Instant read?
Thanks for the welcome I am mainly looking for something versatile for everyday home cooking open to wired or wireless, instant-read preferred, and WiFi/Bluetooth would be a plus but not required.

Like Steve H Steve H , mentioned. You might need a couple as to what ever you are into at the time.

Can't go wrong like you said with Thermoworks and Inkbird is also good, different products from each for different applications.

David
Exactly having a couple on hand for different uses is the way to go. ThermoWorks and Inkbird both make solid tools depending on the job.

For instant reads I like thermoworks. My inkbird IBBQ-4T has amazing battery life between charges. I've forgotten to turn it off a few times. Then get a notification 2-3 days later on phone the battery is getting low.

Old Indian proverb: Man with one watch know what time it is; Man with five thermometers know when dinner ready.
True enough sometimes one is all you need other times a few give you options depending on the mood. And that proverb nails it.

I'll vote for the Thermoworks Thermapen... We have two... One in the kitchen that I finally got the wife to use intsead of going by time... Results are 10 times btter... She still in disbelief that pork chops or chicken breasts are done in 15/20 minutes instead of the 45/60 minutes that she was taught ...
The other one I keep out with the grills/smokers...

I use the Thermoworks Smoke for my smokers to read chamber temps...

Also Thermoworks is a sponser here on the forums and their customer service is second to none... If you sign up for the weekly newletter you will get notifications when things go on sale... They are have a 12 days of christmas sale as we speak... Each day something goes on a BIG sale...

When Mona cooked when we first got together ( supper was ready when the smoke detector started screeming ) lol

She loved her pork chops crispy.

Actually... Looking through the sales they brought them all back for a limited time..

The Thermapen One is on sale for $40 off... You won't see that sale for some time...

Hard to argue with that Thermoworks gear is top notch. Accuracy speed and great customer service make a huge difference, and those sales are a nice bonus too.

I do like InkBird products. I have a few of their products. And they've served me well. I use this in the kitchen just about everyday. Though not instant read. It's pretty darn quick.

And this also is nice for keeping eyes on your cook.
