I am not one for purchasing store bought rubs. Nothing against them but in the ten years or so that I have been cooking at home I have accumulated every spice known to man. My dad however, knowing I am constantly smoking something and making rubs bought me one on one of his many road trips....

I thought it was strange that it says explicitly to sprinkle the rub onto the meat and in big bold print that you should not rub it into the meat. A rub that you can't rub. Haha. Anyone know why that might be?

I think it's more about limiting the amount of rub used.  I don't rub, I sprinkle.

I sprinkle too. I like to let the meat flavor shine.

Probably one of the spices will stain the devil out of your fingers and they don't want the missus P'Oed....
