Woke up and wanted to do something different today.
Had heard of Polish meat market in Utica, so figured I'd check it out.
I was floored! Owner moved from Poland 22 years ago. I spoke Polish to her, and she was surprised! Said my Polish was very, very good, which really made me feel good. While I was there, locals came in and were speaking Polish as well.
The shop is small, but stocked with all types of Polish goods, spices, candy, cookies, pickled items etc...
Then the meats!
Smoked Kielbasa, Garlic Kielbasa, dried Kielbasa, Kabanosy, blood sausage, head cheeses, you name it. All homemade.
I dropped 80 bucks, should have purchased more, but there is always next time.
Hate to say it, but it put Liehs & Steigerwald in Syracuse and the European Market in Syracuse to shame! Longer drive but nice scenery, over the Erie Canal and passed Fort Stanwix.
Well worth the trip. Definitely going back before winter to stock up.
Just a small Polish store in the middle of a neighborhood...
