not Mel Blanc but still cartoons i watched as a kid

what about transformers, gi joe and thundercats. you can throw the silverhawks in with that group as well ;)

Richtee, Thanks for the great homage to Mel Blanc, and trip down memory lane. I always loved Bugs and the gang growing up, I always thought it was a "thinking mans" cartoon. Certainly my first exposure to the Barber of Seville, among many other topics they played off of. It is a shame the PC police have had to interfere, who says there isn't censorship?

I've been buying the "banned" cartoons on ebay and at the stores whenever I come across them. Someday, you won't be able to find them at all! It's ridiculos. I never thought about painting a tunnel on a rock wall and trying to run through it, you have to have a brain in your head, it was supposed to be funny and it was! Lord how far we have fallen!

Great post richtee! Heres my 2 cents. Wacky racers is still one of my all time favorites. I own every episode on DVD (thanks honey). Since when does a five year old care if a cartoon is as they say offensive, as long as its funny! Times change just like the Satursday morning cartoons. Its a shame!

fractured fairy tales-dudly doright-speed racer-doing my best to get to the 50s-my older bro out at the property so he no help.

Great cartoons all. I still watch them when I can find them. I really liked the bulldog on Tom and Jerry..."dat's my boy". And the little chickenhawk on Foghorn Leghorn.

It is nice to see how a simple homage picture to a cartoonist has evoked so many good memoires in so many good people. There is hope for America yet!!
My personal fond rememberance of cartoons? Jonny Quest made me want to go outside and play! What does SpongeBob make our kids want to do? Not sure, will have to ask Oprah.........see attached for your viewing and memory trigger plaeasure

Right around the first of the year, the Denver Performing Arts Center held a concert performed by the Denver Philharmonic Orchestra. The concert was entitled "An Evening with Bugs Bunny". There were three large screens around the auditorium and the orchestra was in on a stage in the center. The neat thing about this was while there was a conductor, for a lot of the first act, Bugs Bunny actually conducted and spoke to the audience. The timing between the performance and the screens were spot on. In the second act, the orchestra provided the 'soundtrack' for a lot of the old cartoons from the 50's, 60's and early 70's. It was a wonderful evening and brought back a ton of memories of my childhood. One of the things that really brought it home, was conductor describing how for a lot of people, their first experience with classical music came from watching Loony Tunes.

Man, I can't tell you how many Johnny Quest episodes my brother and I reenacted around the ranch growing up! We used hay stacks, the pole corrals, and various parts of the landscape as our sets. Usually argued about who got to be Race Bannon. Great memories.
