Suzi Q and I met in 2004 and hit it off immediately. Untold hours were spent together with a lot of fond memories. Alas, as I aged I couldn't give her the attention I used to.
We didn't get out together at all last year. It was time to let her go.....
She's hanging out now with a younger man just a couple of houses away.

Another sad goodbye:
My "Trusty Rusty" offset didn't make it through the winter.
smoker.jpg hinges.jpg Firebox lid hinge rusted solid.
It's being picked up this afternoon along with my old gasser that only gets used for cold smoking once or twice a year. gassed.jpg

Thanks to Suzi, however, I now have six crisp $100 bills to play with and am looking for a new smoker, hopefully something vertical taking up less patio space that I can also use for cold smoking.
Life goes on. :emoji_sunglasses:

I really missed my bike that I sold a few years ago. At least with the stack of cash, you could buy something else you will enjoy.

Hopefully you didn't let Suzi go for $600.00?

I've never rode bikes on the street. I knew from my younger mini and dirt bike riding that I was way to immature to be on the street. We used to race each other on a figure 8 track going in opposite directions.

Mama used to say, if you haven't used it in a year it's time to get rid of it! Wave to Suzi as she rides by, and Happy Shopping! RAY

Chris, I was thinking the same thing about the $600 remark, I'm thinking he left off a zero maybe?

I swear that we must've grown up with the same friends.
I have the memories of and past broken bones/casts and my old scars from surgeries to remind me why I never bought a street bike. I've road plenty of them/ friends bikes for many miles, but
I never could bring myself to buy one because I knew that it would be the death of me.

For me, it was WFO or nothing to this day speed is my drug of choice, and I'm not talk'in about that white nose candy crap.
I just flat out love going fast.

My dirt bikes were more than enough for me, I owned/rode a two-stroke CR. 500 and a four stroke TT. 500 and loved every minute of it. MX bikes were a kick in the ass, for sure, and I miss riding them but don't miss the broken bones or casts. LOL!!!

I'm much better off going low and slow these days.:emoji_joy:

Winter riding thru the woods was another fun adventure, until you hit that one corner on the trail that your bike couldn't quite make. I'm glad my dad made me wear a helmet. It saved me numerous times. I won't even talk about riding on the semi frozen lake. Tom Sawyer and Huck had nothing on my friends and I.

Sorry, folks. The decimal is in the right place. It's 18 years old with 22,000 miles and was $7,000 new in '04.
It was costing around $150 a year just for plates and insurance whether I rode it or not.
I just wanted to get rid of it. It was just a reminder of something I loved to do but couldn't anymore.
I started riding in my teens on Dad's Kawasaki 100 trail bike and between '72 and '78 had a Honda 350 4 cylinder, a BMW 600 and a Yamaha 650 (which was as close as I ever got to my dream bike which was a Triumph Bonneville).
I even worked for a short while as a mechanic at a Yamaha dealership. My daughter was born in '78 and a second car made more sense. In '04 I realized I wasn't paying child support any more, my car was paid for and I was living with my now wife
so I thought why not?
I've had a ton of fun on them and a few close calls (I learned that you don't back off the throttle too quickly at 105mph
on a Honda 350. The front end wobbles! I learned there's a reason foot-pegs fold and if you jump a BMW the centrifical force of the engine will make the bike turn in the air).I figured I've been lucky and I shouldn't press my luck.....

I'm sure it was tough to part with. At least its right down the street if you get the itch, sure your neighbor would fill your need. :emoji_wink:

Dang that was way too cheap I would have gladly given you that for it and tried to figure out a way to get up there without having to drive myself so I could have had the adventure of riding it back here. I'm too old to really ride anymore but that would have been a great adventure. Like many of you I grew up riding mostly off road but did do some of both. I did stop riding on the road long ago after realizing the fact that there were just too many stupid people in cars around where I lived to be on a bike.
I'm sure it was sad to see those things go but just think of the fun your going to have with the stuff you get from the sale money.

Yep, I cringed whenever I saw someone at a street or road getting ready to pull out. I used to take I-465 about 9 miles to go to work and had a car pull over almost into me a couple of times because they didn't notice I was there. I got to where I stuck to the far left lane because the emergency lane gave me a place to go if someone did.
Those extra lights up front weren't for me to see because I rarely rode at night, but so people would see ME.

I know exactly what you are sayin. We sold our bikes a few years back. Probably saved our lives. I rode a CBR and my wife rose a Ninja. Many fun fast rides and memories. Sometimes I really want to grab a handful of throttle and hit a tight windy canyon at raging fast speeds...but..

You couldn't buy that bike for less than $2500 to $4000 grand out here even with the age and miles. You made someone very happy with the deal that you gave them, good karma on you!!!

SmokyMose SmokyMose You're gonna miss it. I traded my supermoto for a utility quad to use on the property. Was tired of the the close calls from idiots. Though I still have 3 bikes - dirt. Took me a couple years to miss the street bike, but I do when the weather's nice.

yeah I need to do the same, I have an 81 Corvette I have had for 22 years and only put 3100 miles on it. Also have a 1974 Triumph TR6 convertible that has not been registered since 2017. Both just live on a lift in the garage...I just hate selling cars.
