So I have been wanting a compact digital camera. Something small, and thin enough to fit in my pocket. The main reason I have for wanting this, is so that I can post que view.

I smoke at least twice a month, usually a decent amount, and I never post many pictures because I don't have a camera handy...after a while, it starts to get to you when you see all this fine que posted, and you can't throw anything back!

I want to get back in on this action. When I first started smoking (pre-crash) I used to post a lot more pics, because at that time - I was only cooking for my family, cooks were smaller, and we had a small camera handy. Now, my wife is actually making money as an amateur photographer on the side - so she upgraded to a fatter camera that I can't take out to the garage, mainly because I can't set it down...I'd have to put it back in the case pretty much after every pic. Combine that with the fact that my cooks are now a lot bigger, so it would be even MORE inconvenient to deal with this monster camera, and I just never get any satisfying que view.

Anyway, once I make up my mind that I have to have something off eBay, I pretty much obsess until I own it. Now I've got radar lock on a digital camera - just so that I can take pictures of my meat.

Sometimes there are way more things to have than money to buy them. Before I found this site I didn't know what a Lang was, now thats all I dream about when I sleep at night!

I hear ya! I've been in the same boat for a year...that's how I got my SNP...my wife saw it on a manager's special at wally world for $100.00. She called me on my cell phone while I was at work, and asked me about it. I think she said something along the lines of: "you keep talking about a bigger smoker so you can do un-cut slabs of spare ribs so your pictutes look better...do you want it or not?" Of course, I responded with great excitement: "yes! have them load it up now, before they come to their senses and change their minds!" Along with "oh, better grab me a couple bags of charcoal, too, honey..."

Man, that was a year ago? I had a 3405GW GOSM (small one), a 34" Uniflame stainless gas grill and a 35" Brinkman gas grill...that was it. Oh, and the turkey fryer kit.

My signature tells the rest of the story...heh-heh-heh! Been a long year of smokin', but a fun one!

Enjoy the ride my friend!

Great thread, Brian!

They look like a kid's toy for digging in the sand...handlheld tool for pulling pork/beef.

I just use large tonged 4" meat forks myself.

HA!!! Ummm - are you joking, or do you already have some? Hard to tell sarcasm in line type

Well for those that don't have them - look out for the fun!! Not only do they make mincemeat out of chuckies - but they serve 2 other purposes. 1) I tell my 4 y.o. son that I can turn into Wolverine late at night, and 2) if your gun isn't handy (Can it REALLY be that handy w/ a 4 year old around?) they could take out a burglar's face in 3 seconds. HA!!

Best $9 eBay gift anyone ever bought me...

Ahhhh! thanks I was hoping it was an over sized pair of BBQ glovesfor use with loading and unloading my smoker.....I have very large hands and its hard to find gloves.Any links to something like that?
Thanks

Before the Paws, I didn't have anything but one serving fork and a dinner fork. You can get pretty tired pulling pork that way! Therefore, I loved getting them as a gift.

Bonus: They have one other useful talent besides pullin'. They can be used to move big hunks of meat around the smoker, like when you are rotating or moving somthing one shelf to the other. Tongs can't get around a shoulder very well, but those Bears Paws can move stuff like round-bale fork

Hmmm - not sure about that, but if I see something I'll PM you! Usually though, the BBQ gloves are pretty darn big, aren't they? You must have bone-crusher hands ;-)
kidding...

I bet if you order them from a special outfitter like Bass Pro or Cabellas, or something (maybe bayou Classic? Anyone?) they would have the real deal, not something made for average/small hands like what they probably sell at Lowes or Menards. I don't know, just a thought...Good luck.

Hey all - got three things today: a fat chuckie, 3 slabs of BB's and a digital camera in the mail

Que view coming as soon as I figure out the camera, and have a chance to cook something. HA! Love this place...

I like your style, Rick - you are welcome anytime! You know how it is, we always cook more than what we can eat...so I'm sure there is one rack of baby backs we could put your name on...

Like I said though, it will be fun to finally have a small camera at my disposal for fun stuff like sharing pics with you all.

I got some PVC gloves made by Best, a US co. They are called Black Knight.
Easy to slip on and off and to wash, not tight fitting on my sausage fingered hands.
So google Best Black Knight Gloves and there you go. Get the 7714R, they are 14" long. Since these are called Black Knight you will also come across some stuff for Batman. His gloves aren't so good for pulled pork though.

Takin pictures of your smokes seems like a great place to be learnin how to take pictures.... can't ya get her to practice on your smokes? Ah... never mind... havin your own camera is more fun anyway. You wouldn't beleive what I've spent on this addiction. I'd be afraid to add it all up.
