So I was working on my wife's phone last night, when the support rep asked me to confirm an email. Opened her email client to confirm said email and what's there... an email from Rec Tec mentioning an order confirmation.

Fathers days is right around the corner as is my birthday so I'm guessing it's more than just a t-shirt (I didn't open the email) and she knows I've been eyeing the Rec Tec 700.

So it looks like I'm getting a new grill.

BEFORE I ordered one I was going to come here and ask, but now that it's done maybe it doesn't matter, but how are these things at normal grilling - not just smoking. Things like grilling burgers, hot dogs, corn on the cob, things of that nature?

Thanks!

Congrats! Gonna be humbling if it’s a Father’s Day hat & Tshirt combo & not a grill! Lol!

Congrats! I am confident all of those things you mention will be fantastic. Personally, I am a believer in charcoal/wood. But pellet grills have their convenience that I sometimes envy. Especially one like that Rec-Tec. That's why a guy (or gal) has to have more than one!

Its probably one of those Rec-Tec Maverick 732 remote sensing thermometers. Or maybe an instant read Rec Tec thermometer.

<Chuckles> remembering part of an old saying about chickens before they hatch.

You guys are killing me. Now I'm half tempted go log into her email and reading it so I can see what she bought!! :D haha

Get a set of Grill Grates. It will get to 550 but if you’re looking for searing or grill marks you’ll need Grill Grates.

I'm not one that particularly "needs" to see grill marks on my burgers or hot dogs. I've been lurking around for the last few weeks and starting to see several people mention that pellet grills don't make the best of grills but do pretty good at smoking.

That's part of the reason why I hadn't pulled the trigger yet and was going to come here asking for suggestions... well that was before I seen the email subject. ;)
