So playing with the air fryer settings.. I see temps start at 120` ... Thinking I might could do a 1lb test batch in it... Would keep me from having to fire up the smokehouse just for a little test batch... Sure it's not gonna have the smoke.. but I just want to test with ECA in them to see if we are even gonna like it before making 30+ lbs ...

Has anybody tried using the air fryer for a low temp cook like that ??

A while back I did a sample test when I was making sausage . Skinless kielbasa and a skinless garlic summer sausage stick . Couple days ago did a small batch of jerky . I used dehydrate at 160 . Works good in my opinion . Never did a big batch of sticks .

Great thought!

After seeing Bearcarver Bearcarver threads I've been completely hooked on the airfryer. Its truly the most versatile cooker I own, wish I went larger and bought two.

:emoji_bulb:This thread's got me thinking!

I have like a boatload, you could have got some when you was here.

Doing a test on air fryer using my Smoke thermometer (freshly calibrated) ...

Set on Bake with fan on ... Temp set @ 120` ...
ran through 2 cycles... low temp was 108` before it started heating again... Temps went up to 125` before leveling off and start to drop ... Both times the temps were the same ...

Now turn the fan off ... still set @ 120` ...
Temps dropped to 100` before heat came on ... Went up to 109` before leveling off and starting to drop ...

I turned Set temp up to 140` .. Fan back on
After turning temp up... it spiked to 158` ... Temp dropped down to 127` before coming back on ... up to 142` ... down to 127 again... up to 142`...

Turn fan off... still set @140`
Temps dropped to 122~ went up to 133`.... Dropped to 119` .. .. up to 130`

Turned Temp up to 170`... fan back on ...
Temp went up to 175` ... dropped down to 150`... back up to 165` ... down to 155` ... up to 165`...

Turn fan off... still set at 170` ...
Temps dropped to 151`... Up to 162` ... dropped down to 150` ... up to 161`

So that concludes this test of the emergency broadca.... ooops ... LOL..

So this test was set on the BAKE position... think I'll try in different positions to see if results are the same...

Looking like it's running 10 - 15 degrees cooler than the set temp ...
