Has anyone ever done this I was thinking of doing this for Thanksgiving this year, but I don't know if it is worth the hassle. Half the crowd I am feeding likes smoked and half liked deep fried. I was going to smoke at a lower temp and then finish in the fryer.

What do you think?

Thanks
Griff

I know a few folks on here have done that.
Thinking about trying it out myself just to see how delicious it is.
I think there is a post on here, I'll see if I can find the link when I get back home but if I remember correctly they smoked to 140 then finished in the fryer.

Thanks FIU,

I did a search and from what I read that if I smoke below 200 until a temp of 140 than into the fryer I should be able to get a nice smoke flavor into the bird.

Thanks

I have done a couple of them I smoke to 140-145 then fry in 350 degree oil to finish. I would recommend smoking at 225 or so until it gets through the danger zone then into the fryer. They are pretty good this way and I'll be doing a couple for Thanksgiving this year
