I have smoked a whole chicken before, but this weekend I must have had a prob. getting

my temp probe located properly. I tried to get it in the thigh area but, is there an easier sure

fire way?

I always insert the probe in the meaty part of the thigh and take care to keep it away from any bones

The spot I like is between the thigh & breast in the thickest part of the thigh, so it would be on the inside of the thigh, not the outside.

No matter whether Breast or Thigh, when you hit desired temp, probe a couple of areas to verify doneness...It is easy to probe the Breast, so do it. Then when it hits 165*F, check the Thigh, 175*F? Yes, You are golden...No, cover Breast with Foil and continue the smoke until the thigh hits...Easy!...JJ
