Okay I am fairly new to the joys of smoking so bear with me.  I have a gas grill and was looking for ways to liven things up and smoking has really accomplished that (mainly chicken and a pork loin thus far).   Anyway making burgers tonight...I'm not going low and slow with them but was wondering if I can still smoke them.   I had read somewhere that you can bypass soaking the wood chips for some quick, shorter duration smoking for things like burgers.  I realize it would have less impact on the meat but is it worth doing?  Any other suggestions?   I thank you.

I usually dont soak chips when I smoke but then I use chunks. In a gas grill I assume your using chips in either a foil pouch or a smoker box. You can do it and you will get a light smoke flavor. Just start the chip box a few minutes with the lid down (during your preheat works nice) before you put the burgers on to get the smoke going and then add the burgers. In all honesty Id probably preheat the grill up to about 350 and then drop it down to low so the grates are hot for a sear and then it will cook on low like in an oven for a few. about 2-3 minutes before your ready to take them off or right at the flip and crank it up to sear the other side.

Why not low and slow ?
It will make you :drool
stuff it with what ever you like on burgers. You might never go back to grill burgers again
Thumbs Up
