Hi folks, Aaron here checking in! First time smoker in San Diego using a MasterBuilt 30" electric smoker. Read a bit online but realize no matter how much I read, part of the learning experience (and the real fun here) is making mistakes and learning from them.

I posted in the general forum about my failed first smoking attempt on July 4. Ordered various wood chips and now looking to get advise and try again. Glad to be here and thanks for putting this community together. God bless the internet! :)

Many people here recommend starting out with smoking chicken since it's an inexpensive risk. But you're right, there's no substitute for experience. You might consider keeping a log book of your smokes so you can repeat the best ones.
