I live in Southeastern Massachusetts, but I grew up in Connecticut and after living here for 35 years I'm still not a native.  I have smoked meats on vertical water smokers, horizontal smokers with side firebox, and even on my 22" Weber kettle, but now I'm having fun with my large Big Green Egg.  Originally I had a job that sent me all over the country and whenever I was in a region where BBQ was popular I would sample the local fare. In the Northeast there is little BBQ culture and if you want it done right you have to do it yourself. My goal is to smoke low and slow with tasty wood chunks and charcoal over long periods of time. Having fun and eating well!

:welcome1: neighbor! You are right about the scarcity of good BBQ in New England . I had a nice brisket sandwich this afternoon at a place called Bison County in Waltham , but they are the exception to the rule. Anyhow , this forum is very good. Lots of good people here. :grilling_smilie:

to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us!

We love to see pictures of what you are cooking (or what we call q-views here at SMF).  To "upload the q-views" just follow the directions here and it will be easier. If you are using a cell phone, an IPad or a kindle, go to the main SMF page and click the Mobile button. Will make the uploads a bit faster too.

If you didn't read the "Terms of Service" notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums and some guidelines of how to interact within the forums. Off site links are not allowed here at SMF per Jeff. Not that you have done anything wrong....just a little bit of FYI for new members!

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!

Kat
