Now that they've announced the possible closing of Pontiac division, makes me want to reconsider my neighbor's little jewel sitting out in his driveway, a '67 Pontiac GTO. He's been asking $15,500 for it, and hasn't raised it (yet) with the possible closing:











Got a feelin' the market value is goin' up a lot higher real quick if they do shut down!

That's a little steep for a rough (cosmetics) looking car. Solid frame or rusty?

How's it run? If the engine needs some TLC as well, you should negotiate down. There's a lot of money you'll have to put in there alone.

On the upside, it's a 67 GOAT for crying out loud....Man o man! Is that factory A/C vents I spy in the dash?

Good luck to you and you do have a good idea. With Pontiac going away or not, that car is definitely a collectible.

The old Pontiacs make great project cars. The price is a bit high, but everything's negoiteble. GM doing away with the Pontiac line won't mean anything to folks who have 20+ yr old Pontiacs. Parts for Pontiacs will be made for 10 yrs after the drop. In addition, a lot of the parts are interchangeable with other GM models.

A great looking project, but the values of collectable cars has dropped along with the stock market, so maybe he'll drop some in price.
I'd love to own it.

It really depends on what you want to do with the car and how much money you have and how much you intend to spend on the GTO. I see a lot of small things that need attention so perhaps a lot of bigger problems exists. It is a sports coupe which is good but has auto transmission which is not so good as far as value.
How is the motor and transmission? A/C work? Body damage? front end? exhaust? and on and on.
At any rate,

PS, I tend to agree with others about the closing of Pontiac. I don't believe the value will go up.

I'm glad I got rid of my '65 Rambler. That was my first car.

I'm going to miss Pontiac. When my older brother got out of the navy he bought a 67 (I think) Firebird new. What a cool car. It was more plushed out than the Camaro, and had a Pontiac engine in it. Any more, everything under the GM umbrella are the same cars, but with different emblems.

Well, it sat out on his driveway for the last 4 months. I took pictures yesterday, it was gone this morning. Stopped and talked to him tonight, he said he'd had 3 bites on it in the last 4 months, once GM announced closing Pontiac he's had 28 calls in 3 days and sold it last night for 22,500, 3 different people bid on it by phone for 2 hours, the buyer came at midnight to get it. Wow, that was amazing! So much for that idea, there's GTO Tigers out there!
