smoker with a side box on each side question

i was thinking about building a 55 gallon drum smoker,,,,what i am thinking is instead of 1 side box ans 1 chimeny..i was thinking abou \t 1 side box and i chimmeny on each side.....will that help raise the temos to the proper heat and will it stop the need for tuning plates........or maybe 2 side boxea and 1 chimeny in the center of the drum...what do you guys think
