In the process of building my first smoker its a timber construction and I will be using an electric twin hob method until im competent enough to man a coal smoker I have recently moved into a new house from a flat with no garden so am desperate to get out side and start smoking there is a sectioned off area a the bottem of the garden asking to be made into a man cave going to be building a small bar/shack with a barrel bbq and a timbre smoker. Basically what dreams are made of, got a couple of little children and a wife so is more a nessesaty, lol.

Welcome to the forums Dave, what you got planned sounds real nice to me. Don't forget to share some pic's of your new smoker and man cave, and of couse the smoked goodness that you cook up to.
Good luck!!

I'd be a little nervous about burning coal in a wood smoker, unless you're talking about an offset fire box for the coal.
