The apparatus forward of the smoker is called a Babington Tray Ration Cooker. There is a good PDF online if you google search "Military cooking for the new millennium". Basically it is a 30 gallon stock pot with a built in burner at the moment. I plan on setting it up as a steamer in the future.
Can you take some pictures of your anti-tip pieces Bruno? The grate in there is just a stop gap. I plan on replacing the grate with stainless steel when I can afford it and possibly adding an upper grate then.
Here is a pic of my "anti-tip" device. Real technical sounding I know for an upside down piece of angle. LOL. It is some leftover 3/4 x 3/4 x 1/8 angle from my cooking grate frames. Flipped it over, welded it about 1 1/2" from end of the slides. I still need to put a removeable pin close to the end as a stop. The grate won't flip like it is, but it will pull out if not careful, especially after several good cooks and all that good grease gets on everything. Hope this helps. Keep the build going.
Did you tack your expanded metal inside your frame, or is it removable from the frame? Also, did you spray some sort of coating on your coking rack, or is that just a trick the lighting is playing in the photo?
Yes, the expanded metal is tacked to the frames. The grates are that color (kinda blackish / gray) from the PAM seasoning it got and the 3 smokes since.
Now I just have to figure out what to put on the other side of the trailer. I am kinda thinking about a ss sink and ss counter with some wood storage underneath. Maybe a couple of extra burners?
I am looking to sell one of the two smokers I built earlier in this post. PM me if you are interested. Gwinnett County, Georgia. $5000 obo for the long trailer with the stock pot and $3500 for the Shorter trailer.
