I was displeased with the "Flame Disk Bowl" as it's referred to on my parts list for my MBPS so after a few experiments I found a cast iron smoker box on Amazon to use. Works pretty well on top of the flame disk thingy. An issue has arisen however. After a few cooks the original finish is gone. It's almost white. Question: Should I cure it as you would a cast iron pan of paint it with heat resistent paint? I'll have to do one or the other or the Rust Monster will devour it. One of the curses living in SC.

Either way will work. However
Of you oil it and keep putting it directly in the flame you'll have to season it after every use. I would get high temp (automotive) paint and be done with it.
