I hope this isn’t a silly question. I’d like to know how something like the Rec Teq 2500 functions as a grill. I almost pulled the trigger on a nice propane grill a few weeks ago before I read about smoker grills. I’m sure the Rec Teq is an excellent smoker, but can it actually grill well also? Can this smoker function as a good smoker and grill. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

To me a smoker is something that cooks meat at a low temperature like my MES30 that only heats up to 275 degrees. My Masterbuilt 560 will got to 700 degrees and I can use it either as a smoker or a grill.

For hot and fast, why not just get a separate but cheap kettle style grill? You can get a classic series Weber 22 inch kettle for as low as $109, and even the top of the line 22 inch master touch is only $219. Use the Rectec for low and slow smoking, but for straight up hot and fast use the kettle. Best of both worlds.

Yup. It will be the best of the two worlds. Pull the trigger.

Not sure about the Rec Teq but my Pit Boss has a plate that you can slide over on the plate above the fire pot and it acts pretty much like a regular grill. You can sear over the opening with it open that area looks quite a bit like a grill you can see the fire below it. The Rec Teq may have something like that I really don't know
