So this weekend we were smoking some chix wings for snacks for football and I grabbed some ham hocks and threw them on the smoker for about an hour for some extra flavor. Mrs Scar made some homemade Sourdough Bread bowls and we made some split pea soup to go in them - I forgot the pic on the smoker but here is the rest of the process

Tasted great. Thanks for looking

Thanks to all of you for the positive feedback. It sure tasted great. Mrs Scar did a great job on the bread - love that she is making more

OKAY you now need to post what a Ham Hock is . My daughter asked me and I can't really answer her so instead of googling it I am asking . What cut of meat off a hog is it .

Here you go - it is good that she is asking - did you get the recipes OK

The hock is the lower portion of a hog's hind leg, made up of meat, fat, bone, gristle and connective tissue. In the market, ham hocks are often cut into 2- to 3-inch lengths. Most have been cured, smoked or both, but fresh hocks can sometimes also be found. Ham hocks are generally used to flavor dishes such as soups, beans and stews that require lengthy, slow cooking

Thank you and yes we got the recipes . She will be home this evening and i wil lgive them to her . She is back at school doing a project .
