Just a question about smoking them. Does the smoke get past the corn husks? And what type of wood did you use?

I showed the pictures to my mom last weekend and now she want's me to make some.

Congratulations not only did you manage to make a great looking dish you made me hungry . I love those things grilled like that but have never done them in a wet corn husk cover . Thanks for sharing chef .

yes the smoke does get through........it is mild as so not to mask all of the other flavors going on....and i used pecan.

phx area........thx but you should see lots like this where you are from.
 
no but i use smoked achiote pork butt for the meat in my tamales.
tamales need to be steamed due to the masa used.
