Asparagus recipe is easy... Take your favorite seafood rub. I make my own rubs, but my seafood rub is not all that different than something like a cajun rub or Old Bay. Chop the ends off the asparagus, oil them down with olive oil and sprinkle on the rub. I then mixed up a shot or two of tequila and mixed it with the juice from a lime. Put the tequila in a mister and spray liberally. Save a little for the last few minutes of the cook. I smoked them about 20 minutes on a silicon mat. I used pecan, but you could use whatever you are cooking with that night.
As far as smokers go, I cook on a Grilla Silverbac. I must say that I am new to pellets, but not new to smoking. Being in Texas, I cook a lot of briskets and I am really enjoying this pellet machine... dial in a temp, watch your Maverick thermometer, peek occasionally... it is a much better way of life. No more flare ups, or adding wood or adjusting vents.
