Anyone done the slot mod? Pictures? Im trying to get up the courage to cut that pot lid I worked so hard to get the lid to fit on lol.

Not sure what you mean by "slot mod". A little more info might make it easier to get answers for you.

Sorry. It where you cut a vertical slot through the top lip of the smoker just deep enough to make room so your probe wire sit in it without getting pinched by the lid. If you do a search for WSM slot mod you will see what I mean if it's not clear. I have only just seen people doing it on WSM so I was just curious if anyone had tried it on the pot lip yet.

Oh I just drilled a hole for the probe to go through. Slot would work too I guess.

Problem with that is my food probes are the thermoworks needle probes and they are quite large at their base; I would have to have a pretty big hole. I'm not sure if I could feed them through jack first as its a 90 degree connector. That's why I was looking into alternative methods.

I just run mine under the lid. No problems in 2 years.

I have a notch on my 22.5 and the grommet mod above on my 18.5. Both work great.
