After seeing @SmokinVOLfan using his new flattop , I had to dust mine off . Not sure how many have had White Castle Hamburgers , but this is my take on them and I got it pretty darn close .
The burgers get steamed over onions . I use raw to create the steam and some water . If you are looking for the White Castle taste you need to also use dehydrated onion flakes .
I buy the dinner rolls from GFS . Best slider bun in my opinion .
Chopped 2 onions and add the minced to the chopped
Divided up 2 pounds ground beef
Cover with plastic wrap , then smash .
Poke some holes , so the steam comes thru the middle . Sprinkle onion flakes on top
I heated the cook top and hit it with some water to steam off , the shut it off and cooled .
Just to kill anything that needed killing .
Add onion and turn to high and add the burgers .
I think you can see the steam rising ,
These are steamed , so your not going to get a crust or color . That's what you want .
Getting close , moved some to the hot side , sparyed some water on the grill .
Add cheese to some .
AND ,,, my propane runs out ,,,,,, I knew it was close .
That's ok ,, they were cooked . The next step is to steam the buns by adding the top bun to the burger , squirt some water between the pattys , then cover the cracks with the bottom bun . I stacked them on a cookie sheet and in a low oven to melt the cheese and get the buns a bit soggy .
So normally This would be done right on the grill .
OK , can't forget the fries .
This is a good brand I found recently . Really like 'em .
My small air fryer that gets used 2 to 3 times a week .
Does a fantastic job on the frozen fries .
Well that's it . These are really good . For the guys trying to mock White Castle , this works out pretty damn close . Add dill chips . The only thing is they are thicker the a Castle , but I like 'em like that . Any way ,, here ya go .
Hope you enjoyed .
