As a lot of you know, one of the biggest issues for some ECB models is the design of the coal pan. I'm referring to the ones with the un-vented, solid pan. I discovered by accident that a 10" steamer basket will solve that problem for less than $10. These are available at just about every grocery store. So if you don't have a grate for the bottom of your coal pan, just plop one of these in there. It raises the coals to allow better air flow and a little tap allows the ashes to fall right through.
