This will be a first attempt at smoking a ham or a turkey. I have eaten a smoked turkey it was good but am not sure about the ham. I also have read a few threads about both but am not sure which is better.

HELP. I have 7days to decide.

I would do a turkey for sure.  Ham's are good, but since it's already "hammed" you don't really transform or add a whole lot to the flavor profile.  However doing a drunken turkey will make your family really appreciate how good turkey can get if done correctly on a smoker.  I have several family members that will only eat turkey if smoked now and unfortunately I end up smoking about 4-5 every year as a result.
