I should have checked in last year when I first started following the forums. Since then I have followed a couple of people here pretty closely. I’m really amazed at the knowledge and expertise exhibited here. I kind of apprenticed under a buddy of mine on a charbroil horizontal smoker with a firebox for a few seasons and then last year my father in-law gave me his old pit master that he only used for grilling. So I figured it was time to branch out on my own. The pit master that I have is not ideal for smoking and could do with a deal of mods but I've gotten some good results out of it following the advice on these forums.I'm into doing a lot of the old school stuff and have recreated Pops' hog leg to ham project several times with excellent results. I brine and smoke turkeys every year and the pulled pork recipes here are excellent. This season I am branching out into curing and smoking whole deer legs and I'll probably get some ducks from my hunting buddies. I hope to be building a smokehouse soon and I’m planning on an equipment upgrade in the near future.I live in Kansas City so you know the Que is a serious business around here. The forums have helped me produce some really awesome Que that has been really well received. So my thanks to you knowledgeable guys and gals that are moderating and contributing.BackyardKCQ.

Hello and

to SMF - glad to have you here

I've got a couple of photos up on my profile from last year. I'm getting ready to do a couple of deer haunches. I'll be taking them from fresh ham all the way through the curing and smoking process and I'll be posting some photos of that. Should be fun!
