Looking for advice on shipping fermented, cured and cooked summer sausage.

My friend in Texas sends me a couple of pounds of deer jerky and dried sausage every year.

I want to send him some smoked cheese and summer sausage.

Package and ship overnight with ice packs/newspaper or dry ice?

Thanks

Styrofoam cooler in a cardboard box with ice packs is what I do when shipping meat. You can’t overnight anything with dry ice as it’s a safety hazard and can’t be put on a plane

I would think the SS would be fine to ship as-is no ice. As there are plenty of places that have mail order SS, and Slim Jim type meat sticks.

The cheese I think you'd need at least an ice pack. The harder the cheese the longer it's safe at room temp, but I wouldn't go anymore than 10 hours.

Good to know
Another thing that is good to know is what time stuff gets picked up . I usually try to get that type of package to the shipper at opening . I think Fedex and UPS is 2 pm . That way it gets picked up and on its way , instead of spending the night in the store room .
I just freeze sausage and try to wrap it with some type of insulating wrap . Most ground shipping will be 3 days . Never had any issues on the sending end , and I received stuff without issue as well . I also try to send during the winter months doing that .

Edit :
I don't send this stuff , or anything USPS anymore . Half ass BS post office here .
