I want to send a smoked-meat care package to my brother, and wanted to know the best way to package it for next-day shipment. Here's my thought process:

1. Smoke the goodies and seal them fresh by vacuum sealing, or double zip-lock baggie
2. Allowing the meat to cool, then freeze to ship frozen
3. Use styrofoam cooler and add dry ice as temp control

Any other ideas out there on how to ship q?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Hi! number one is fine. If you do number 2 (freeze) do number 3 as well (pack in dry ice and ship in styrofoam). Although you didn't mention how far the package is going, for food safety reasons you have to assume it is going to take longer than anticipated and sit inside a (very) hot truck/plane/warehouse for a period of time. Hope this helps!

Whoops - would help if I put what I was sending ....

My care package would be pulled pork and some sliced brisket, or a lump of brisket that he can slice when he gets it ...

At shipping stores like UPS Store, they have boxes that have perfectly square coolers in them. Freeze your meat, pack in the cooler-box with dry ice and send overnight. I order crawfish and stuff from LA and it makes it all the way here nice and frozen.
