Look forward to it Flash.

I think its clear the impact food has on our lives and memories. These stories of Grandmothers cooking are great. It is sad that those dinners are lost. At least those memories will live forever with us.

Thanks for sharing everyone. Its brought back memories for all of us I think.

I'm in too Vlap -

Dottie and I are doing much the same - I located a company named Morris Press that publishes cookbooks for church groups, individuals, etc - their prices are quite reasonable.

When Mom died the only things I asked for were her cook books and her card index and I also received some other stuff, but the real deal was an entire additional card file with a lot of Grandma Valery's and Grandma Marsh's recipes - In Grandma Valery's case quite a few were handwritten in an old Sicilian dialect - luckily my father had learned to speak it fairly well through his life with mom and her relatives and did meticulous translations for me - They're now some of my most prized possessions and I intend on passing them on to my sons (should they prove interested and worthy).

I applaud any and all who revere our elders and honor their memories by attempting to cook their dishes!
