Just purchased my smoker and read about seasoning. What is the proper way?? Please help

Your smoker's manual should include seasoning instructions.
Generally though, leave the water pan empty, set the temp to 275 and run the smoker for 3 hours to burn off manufacturing residue.
During the last hour, add hickory chips. You can use other wood chips but hickory being strong, lays down a nice initial seasoning.

i'd go even lower than 275, maybe 225. there was someone here recently who seasoned his at high temperature and the interior paint/powder coating started to flake off. not saying 275 is high temperature, but 200-225 may be safer. i'd also burn wood chunks/chips the entire time to get the inside well coated.

I would mix up some white vinegar and water in a spray bottle and spray the inside down and wipe out.

Some of the new smokers have a TON of oil inside from manufacturing, vinegar will eliminate it.

It’s is finished “burning it off” when you have no smell coming out of the vent burning just propane, then start the seasoning process with wood chunks/ chips for a couple hours
