season cherry ¿

I had some cherry tree given to me back in November 2012, power company was trimming away from power lines. I tried hawing some this weekend for a smoke and that stuff would nor burn. How long does ir need to season before u can use it

Did you cut it into sticks and split it in November? How big are they, 2" thick? 3"? 4" or bigger? Size matters when seasoning wood.

I have some cherry cut last September still in 5 and 6 foot logs. I cut and split one about a month ago( the splits are 8"-9" long by 2" thick) and they still need about 3-4 more weeks before they are ready to burn.

What Cliff said. Leaving it un-split will take about an inch per year to air dry. (From outside in).
