I've been driving by a place with a big Pecan tree laying down up rooted by the wind. Its in a cattle pen and I could never catch anybody there and didn't know who owned it. So today I actually saw somebody there and stopped to ask about the tree and the guy says "if you want that tree your more than welcome to it just don't let the cows out" it has a pasture hooked to the pens so I just have to run the cows into the pasture and close the gate while I get the wood. He also said get it when ever you want no hurry its yours YAHOO the tree is probably about 50' and its all there minus the leaves

Very nice score!
Nothing better than that. I've learned it really does pay to stop when you see a tree down or a crew cutting one down, got lots of maple wood from some guys who even offered to cut it up for me if I wanted.

Nice score there Piney! Whats the saying... The sun shines on a dogs.., wait, not that one. A blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then!

Something else thats nice about this one is its within a mile of the camp I can take the tractor over with forks on it hook the goose-neck trailer to the truck and just cut logs and load them on the trailer and bring it all back to camp before cutting to lengths and splitting it

Woohoo!!! That's awesome, Jerry! You had been on the hunt to get some more pecan and I'm glad to hear you found some.

You are the wood man Jerry. You sure are starting to make me wonder, all you have to do is want or needed something and it comes right at you. Maybe we can gat together and help you with your quest for pecan wood. I'm hoping that I can make it out your way this week to help with the cureing too.
