Slow Cooker Buckboard Bacon Bean Soup.
Started this last evening by cooking the navy beans for about an hour.
Rinsed the beans and tossed them in the slow cooker along with some Bay leaf and pepper flakes.
Next I added some of my buckboard chunks and some carrots and celery. Onion and a can of diced tomatoes...
A quart of chicken stock and a quart of tap water looked good for me.
I didn't season the soup yet. Will add pepper and maybe some salt when I get home.
Forgot I added about 3 cloves garlic.

Stuck the insert in the fridge and popped it in the cooker this morning on my way out.. 9.5 hours on low should about do it.
Plan on removing the chunks to cut up after I get home.

Good stuff.. done now and I'm going in for the kill soon.. Beans were not tender after 10 plus hours so I cranked the crock pot up to 350 and got it going.. Reduced the temp back to 212 and let it go another hour.

Chopped bbb and added back in.

That's crazy that the beans weren't tender! Is you liner ceramic like mine?
If so it must have taken a real good chill overnight in the fridge.

Looks good Rings, hope you didn't get any of the human organs found in the municipal drinking water. LOL.

That's the nasty water they treat and put back into the river. It gets strained out and the trash gets put in dumps or burned. They found some deer parts and not sure if any were human. That water doesn't go to drinking water plant. Lol
