I am wanting to start doing my own sausage this year cause having all my gave possessed is getting to expensive. I know I need to get a good grinder and stuffer but what else will I need?

Also give me some ideas on good grinders and stuffers that wont brake the bank as I am a baller on a budget!

You will need a couple of grey tubs. good for mixing meat and giving the sausage a bath

How much meat do you intend to grind a year?  Or more importantly at any one time?

thanks for the links!

now that $99 stuffer has plastic gears and the LEM 5lb stuffer has all metal gears and it $149 is it woth the extra $49 to get the one with metal gears?
I have the plaskit gears and never had a problem stuffing sausage. you would need to be careful if your doing hot dogs using 3/8 tube which doesnt come with the stffer. You said your looking at low cost. You can always get metal gears later if you decided you wanted them

Did you watch the videos?

I've had the stuffer from Grizzly for about 4 years.
Has worked great for me.

For sharpening knives, I highly recommend the Gatco sharpening system.....

If you can swing it, a LEM top line of grinders will run circles around the Northern grinder.

Check your local restaurant supply for stackable food totes, the one in this area has them far cheaper than what I can get them online....they're also a great source for butcher/boning knives.
