I bought a package of Eastman hog sausage casings from Amazon and noticed on the back of the package it says "product of USA, China, and Europe."  I find this curious.  I can only thing of three ingredients: (1) hog casings, (2) salt, (3) the package, so I guess each came from a different continent, but it makes you wonder which came from which!

My thinking is that the hog casings that Eastman sells come from one of the 3 depending on price/availability.

Nearly all the casings sold in NA and Europe today come from China.  Some are are sorted and packaged in the inporting country and therefore allowed to call it their own product.

Making summer sausage today. Going to try casings. Can cook them in oven. We haven't try. We form them and cook in oven at 350 for one hour. I would like to smoke some. Any ideas thanks
