Many of the members' refer to Sam's Club when picking up bargains on meats. Has anyone compared the differences between Sam's and Cosco?

I have been looking to join one or the other and was wondering which is preferred by our members.

Thanks, John

No offense to you Wal-Mart, Sam's custies - I know there are lots on this site - but I don't purchase from either of those two stores. I feel like they've really helped contribute to the downfall of American businesses. Plus, my wife worked at Sam's before we were married and they treated their employees poorly and loaded them up with tons of anti-union propaganda at all times.

I highly recommend this movie. You won't want to shop Wal-Mart or its affiliates again...

I didn't want to start any controversies or debates concerning union vs. non-union. All companies have their problems with employees one way or the other to some respect. I'm just looking for bargains and trying to save a few bucks on a product that brings us a great deal of pleasure........Meat!

I personally love Sam's. However, I look at the sale flyers and buy most of my meat when on sale at Krogers or Albertsons. One thing about Sam's is the quality and consistent prices and also if you can handle a case price it is good.

I go to both Sams and Costco and really can't tell much difference from one to another. The only reason I belong to both is Sams was close to me in Florida and Costco is closer up here in MA.

i completly agree. nothing in there is made w/ quality and i take my dollar else were.

I think that finding deals is up to the buyer. I know that BJ's whole sale has been offering 60 day trials to let people try them out.

May just want to go and tell them flat out that you are trying to decide between sam's and costco and want a free 30 trial member ship.

Don't want to start any controversies either and I understand you're looking for the deal. Just know it comes with a price, always. I have no problem with people shopping Wal-mart, I just wouldn't. My wife had a supervisory position, in charge of sending employees home early so that the company could save on payroll. Just my .02 and I don't hold it against anybody who shops there. No doubt, you'll save $$.

I have memberships to both Sam's and Costco. I tend to buy more meat at Sam's. Both offer Choice grade meat, but at Sam's I can buy ground chuck which we use a lot, Costco only has 93/7 lately. The best things about Sam's are: 1. it is usually never as crowded; 2. you can find more meat that has been marked down drastically. Costco has the best coffee beans.

I personally prefer Costco, but I have been a member of both in the past. I have noticed that Costco carries higher price point items (read as nicer stuff) as well as their membership base is generally more educated and the stores are in more affluent areas (hence the higher price points (Mrs Engineer did a paper in her MBA class on the two, so if you really want to get into the nuts and bolts, I could ask her to chime in). Since Costco has fewer locations, they might not be in every location. If one is closer or more convenient It would work for what you are using it for.

Also, I just got a membership to Restaurant Depot through KCBS, and they have a great meat section. If there is one close to you it would be worth the KCBS membership, as the card for restaurant depot was free!

I like Sam's for certain items. Mostly I shop at Smiths aka Kroger owned. I shop the bargain bins for meat's and deli items and get some great deals. I just picked up Bar-S Beef bologna 1 pound'ers for .70 cents a piece, bought all 15. I keep my freezer with a constant supply of sausage chubs that Ill pick up for 1.00. Great for spaghetti.

Let me see , hmmm , Cosco is 1 hours away. But Sam club is 12 hours away.

So if I want it today Cosco, if its not needed till tomorrow Sams club.

Yep I'm gonna have to go with Cosco on this one.

I live in jersey and we have a BJ's in the next town over.
They are basically just like a Sam's or Costco.
They sometimes have good deals on meat but usually don't carry briskets so I get them at Walmart. Full packers for $1.86lb! If I could find that kind of price at an American run business I would support it fully but I'll give my money to Walmart any day of the week if they sell me a brisket for that price and everywhere else trys to get them off at $4.99lb! Ficken das!
No way! I like to support local businesses when I can but I also like to get my moneys worth which is why I do buy a lot of stuff at Walmart as opposed to other places that charge 3x the price for the same thing.

Sam's or Costco....I have both in my area and Costco charges way more for membership and is generally higher on their prices to so it's Sam's club for me!!!!!

Note: If we all knew the things corporations do/did everyone would be out hunting their own food and making their own clothes. Just try boycotting the places that sell foreign stuff or treating employees unfairly. You "will" starve to death or be awfully cold. Think about that....Hmmmmmmmmm.

Hmmmmm or maybe they'd change their evil ways. But that won't happen until us spoiled brats put our foot down. Don't buy and/or vote for what's best for you today, buy and vote for what's best for the country down the road.

I agree it's ALMOST impossible to not buy foreign goods. And that's really not the problem with wally world. I don't really have a problem with fair trade. It's the fact that they've gotten so unbelievably powerful they're actually changing the political climate in America. They're also making the manufacturers move their operations to China if they want to sell in their stores. It's ridiculious. I believe capitalism works when everyone is playing on the same field. Sam Walton rolled over in his grave many years ago.

Sorry BandCollector. Didn't mean to hijack your thread.

I'm guessing both places meat is from the US.
