So sad.. She was a great lady and the Monarchy will never be as classy..
That's what I mean..... it seems to me like a meaningless tradition. No real power, no authority...I'm not fascinated with her or her family. Frankly, I can not comprehend how a King or a Queen can exist anywhere in the world in 2022 - it is an obsolete concept in my opinion. Not to mention that all of them throughout history have been power-mad sociopath mass-murderers.
I just hope that she is resting in peace.
Power and authority are not the be all and end all. I'll take a lady with class and dignity over that any day. And you don't have to be a "Royal Watcher" to understand that. That's what I mean..... it seems to me like a meaningless tradition. No real power, no authority...
Cool. What purpose do they serve in this day in age. other than carry on a tradition?Power and authority are not the be all and end all. I'll take a lady with class and dignity over that any day. And you don't have to be a "Royal Watcher" to understand that.
May she Rest in a well deserved Peace.
I liked her.

I've read 2 of those books you posted. I have no problem with rich people who earned it. I have definite issue with rich people who made it (or took it) off the back of others........"royal" families certainly fall into the latter categoryI like to read but as I have grown older I've learned that listening to audio books is a great substitute - and I have a curiosity that will not quit.
Recently I've listened to (most recent, first):
- Powers and Thrones: A New History of the Middle Ages, by Dan Jones.
- The Templars: The Rise and Spectacular Fall of God's Holly Warriors, also by Dan Jones.
- Babylon: Mesopotamia and the Birth of Civilization, by Paul Kriwaczek
- Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern World, by Jack Weatherford, and
- The Plantagenets: The Warrior Kings and Queens Who Made England, by Dan Jones again.
I have learned something from all of these books that I believe is very important: rich people are words I cannot post here...
I have a philosophical theory about the rich.I've read 2 of those books you posted. I have no problem with rich people who earned it. I have definite issue with rich people who made it (or took it) off the back of others........"royal" families certainly fall into the latter category
I agree with some of that. All rich people who didn't inherit wealth aren't swindlers though......to some extent.I have a philosophical theory about the rich.
We ALL come into this world with absolutely nothing - not one penny in the bank.
The ONLY way to get rich without inheriting wealth, is to get more from every transaction you participate in, than you give.
For instance, metaphorically, I could never sell a car with a bad transmission to an unsuspecting stranger, and feel good about myself thereafter. In my humble opinion, a good person could just never do that.

Agree. Iconic for the Brits for sure.I have read these comments, I would say you can't change history but look at what happened here this past year. Some of our history got erased. Did I keep up on her and her family, no unless it was in the news. But she was a iconic person. Can't say I am sad of her passing away but feel for the millions that do.
I agree totally! Especially about the history that was done away with. Pull down some statues and rename a couple teams doesn't change what happened in the past. They are such dumb asses! Sorry for the language but it's the nicest term I could think of. But what comes to mind is how things changed during her life as queen...from the 1950s till now...unbelievable changes!I have read these comments, I would say you can't change history but look at what happened here this past year.
