Sad Salad Night

[Quiganomics]

As my kids call it, tonight was Sad Salad Night. Started by making a homemade ranch dressing with fresh herbs from our garden.

Smoked chicken breasts with a spice blend I'm experimenting with, then bedded it on some fresh greens, some cherry tomatoes, and grated cotiga. Topped it all with the ranch.

Drama queens in the house still called it Sad Salad. I thought it was pretty dern good.

Thanks. Kids don't get it that when you start getting old like me your metabolism comes to a screeching halt. I've put on 22 lbs in the last 4 months...so, eating habits need to change. Healthy 4 nights a week, then cheat days Fri-Sun. 2 weeks in, down 5.5 lbs.

And trying to eliminate soda. Mio water flavorings are really helping with that.

Im 58, i hear you 100% gotta be more aware of whatcha eat for many reasons. Weight plaque build up, BP etc. no one is immune!

I quit all sodas a while back, water beer whiskey is all for me...and espresso. I need the high power caffeine bev.

That looks like a very good salad. I used to not like salads, but the older I get, the better I like them.
I like the name, Sad Salad Night.
I too gave up soda years ago. I drink mostly water now. My water just happens to be steeped in grains, and boiled with hops.

Looks great from here! Unfortunately ranch and myself don't play well together.

I used to hate salad as dinner but nowadays it's a once a week thing. Been taking leftover smoked top/bottom round and cutting it into strips and throwing it into salad cold.

I like the name, Sad Salad Night.

We have some good friends of ours who do salad Mon-Thurs for health reasons and call it that. Kids have now adopted the term as their own and get really dramatic about it. It's become a running joke around our house.

Except when it comes to when I make the Matthew McConaughey Tuna Salad. They chomp that right up....the guys is a total douche-canoe but damn....he knows how to make a tuna salad!
