Rust on the fire box

Has anyone tried old fashion stove polish on a smoker instead of high temp paint?

Can't say I've seen stove polish used but I have seen rendered fat applied and cooked in

I just kept a can of high temp paint and gave it quick coat on the hotspots after each cook.

I use grease on mine , easy and gives the metal kind of a Gun metal blue color .
