The two manufacturers have settled their giant whizzing matches with one another, effective 2/2/17.  RTIC has agreed to modify their designs, and will release new '17 models on May 1:  they will also be discounting their existing line '16 line in order to liquidate before the 5/1 deadline arrives.  Here's a link to the Houston Business Journal's article about the matter:

So what happened with the companion suit against Walmart for their Ozark Trail version?

It sounds like RTIC is able to still sell existing inventory, so at least no one is going to start trying to seize them (good luck with that!!!).

Not surprising:  like I said, Wally has some pretty deep pockets to play with patent and trade dress infringements.  I can't see this ending well for Yeti, as the claim is for the 20 oz tumbler, the 30 oz. tumbler, and the can cooler:  these types of products have been in play for a long time, including those vessels with larger mouths than bases.  Trade dress for stainless steel?  Patent for a cup?  Laughable.  Understandable that RTIC and Yeti would settle, as these relatively smaller businesses don't need the financial strain of a protracted legal battle, but Wally could bury Yeti (imho) with requests, motions, and expenses if they want to.

Methinks they're perturbed that others have blown the lid off the myth of a $40 cup, and are flailing at anyone who has shone a light at the overpricing.  My $0.02.

Just bought a rtic 45 last week for $120, and a softpak 20 for $70. Can't beat that deal. I have a 65 already but I'd possibly buy another 65 if they dropped in price.

As far as the lawsuit goes anyone who has watched the last year knew this outcome was the only way it was going to shake out. They copied yetis design, and then called them out by name in they're slogan. Aggressive to say the least. With that said rtic is a quality product and I love mine. I don't think a cooler is worth $400+ dollars so I personally wouldn't buy a yeti. If it wasn't for rtic I'd still be using my wheelie coolers!

I own a few rtic tumblers, can coolers, and low balls as well and they are the same as the yetis. They all do the same job and I can't tell the difference between them.

Agree about same results as the more expensive option. Yeti reminds me of a cornered, wounded animal, lashing out at anything that comes near. Wouldn't surprise me if they're writing their own obituary by taking on the 800-pound gorilla named Wally in this case.

Where''d you get the soft 20 for $70? I've been watching and the cheapest soft cooler I've seen is the lunch box at $79.99.
