Hi all. Love this site.

I'm planning to build a metal smoker. I have never tried this before and have never had a smoker before. ( used my gas grill with a tin full of water and wood chips is about it.) I'm probably going to ask dumb questions but I rather do that then spend money on mistakes.

I'm planning a 3'x3'x1' smoker that has an off set fire box. I want to weld the fire box first and I'm wondering what size would be the best for the dimensions of my smoker.

Thanks. E

E, go to the reverse flow section, at the top is a tutorial by dave you can follow for your specs, the reverse flow specs will also work for you if building a crossflow smoker, you will end up adding tuning plates to help adjust temps in a crossflow, but the fbox to cc ratios, stack dimentions, firebox to cc cutout etc, will work for you. If you are going to build a reverse flow smoker, just follow the tutorial.enjoy!!

Mike
