You're right my friend. Please disregard I said anything and delete this post in its entirety. I didn't intend to ruffle feathers by trying to make a suggestion to change the status quo. I am probably out of line for sayin anything at all to begin with.
By no means are my feathers ruffled. As long as your saying what is on your mind and not jumping on someone or talking politics you are encouraged to say what is on your mind. I see a lot of things I don't agree with. When I do I point it out my HO. Then let it go.

Happy smoken.

Things like this Bama...do need to be brought up from time to time.  I haven't had the time this weekend to get online very much.  And that leaves Dave being the "only Mod" or Alesia in Roll Call.  I feel terribly about that and try and stay online as much as possible.  When I get online every morning...there can be as many as 25-50 new members at Roll Call....since about 10pm that night when I got off line.  I absolutely read every single post...and try to say something "personal" if possible.  Yes...I do cut and paste.  Yes it does get old trying to say the same thing over and over too.  BUT...it's the only way we can get the things that Jeff wants us to out in RC.

I appreciate everyone and anyone's help in RC.  Mule, SeenRed and others volunteer there most every day.  There are others that help out when they can...and I have sent a PM saying Thanks too!

Come on and help out....and if yall can come up with something that will help us..."Welcome and be more personal"...please let us know.  I can change!

I apologize for digging up a dinosaur, as it were, but to add to all of this thread's content:

From my various fora experience, there is a wide-spread belief that got started somewhere back in the early days of the internet that every admin/mod on a site was receiving a check for their efforts, and that admin/mod was their full-time job. This is not the case, in most instances, and is purely a position individuals take on as a way to further give back to the hobby that they enjoy so much, in their free time.

Now, back on topic, can even such newbs as myself greet in roll call? I will admit, because most of us (or at least me) have been doing the forum game for so long, and have been through the process so many times, generally I'll do my intro post and forget that the intro forum exists. :/ lol

If it's allowed, I wouldn't mind getting involved. :)

You should be able too.

But of course you may greet new members and post in the Roll Call forum!!! We welcome that!!! We want all our new members to feel welcome and the more members who stop by to say Hi the more welcome they will feel!!!

And you are right, there are no checks for me!!! I do this to try and give back a little of what all you Great people have taught me so far because I am still learning everyday!!!

I just did two personalized. I say c&p is most definitely allowed! lol My 2 took like 7 minutes. O.o I'll compose my own, and get to it. :)

Thank You! There are 2 mods assigned to Roll Call and we try to reply to every one and some days we will get 40 or more new members post here. SMF has been averaging over 1000 new members a month for the past year and a half so it does get busy around here sometimes!

just thinking here .............how about new members that tell what state they are in , get a response form a member in the same state ?

i know when i started in the forum i had questions about different things but some of the answers were great for info but didn't work for me . "IE.: in Oklahoma no COSTCO "  so it was hard to get what i needed.

i think local/state knowledge is very helpful when answering a posted question.

There is a place in your initial set up/and sign up for that.  Most folks don't read and or they don't want that info included.  TulsaJeff said he was going to start asking in his welcome letter when folks sign up.  Dont know if he has or not.  I quit asking after he said he would ask.
