I recently picked up a vitamins, rival meat slicer. The seller claimed it was her father's never been used. But this was clearly not true by looks of the box that came in. It has a plastic shroud behind the blade, but it also has what appears to be the same shroud in metal. My question for the group.... Did they all come this way, or is this machine combination of two machines. Is one shroud better than the other

So I stand corrected. The shroud I thought was plastic is also metal. It is gray in color versus stainless steel. It uses a threaded slotted screw on the front to attach the blade Whereas the original( i think?) Has a retaining thumb screw on the back.
