seasoned some Tri tips and left in fridge for 1 hr or so. Got smoker up to temp with oak wood at 240-250 I prefer lower but things came up early on so went higher.

smoked them for 1 hr and 15 min between 240 and 250 degrees. Then played ring around the vortex for 5 min before checking temp with therma pen.

temp was 135 on all. Higher then I prefer but such is life. Glad I didn’t wait the 10 min I planned on.

Panned and foiled. Let rest for 20 min. Before cutting in as wife was hungry and we all know who the boss is.

Over all it was pretty darn good. A little well done for me but it filled the hole. I like the ring around the vortex plan better the. The direct sear. Will use again especially if multiple Tri tips are involved. Just makes life easier.

Wrapped two up in foil and gave away to two different neighbors. They really enjoyed them. One neighbor sent me a picture within minutes of me giving it to him. Said it was awesome. Here is his photo.

Thanks for looking. Have a great week.

Looks great to me . Nice plan also .
The one and only I've done was smoke to 120 , cast iron finish .
Experience shows in the slice .
Nice work , and thanks for posting .

looks great to me! love me some TT, I can't wait to the untrimmed TT on the kettle brisket style.
Thank you. I’ve contemplated trying the brisket style Tip. Maybe I will get one ride in the smoker next time when others are out.

Oh man that is awesome! That looks so good! My last few TTs I’d been doing on smoker at 225 them finishing on kettle. Really great results? Yours look perfect!!
