Rib rub, how long before cooking?

I'm planning on doing some baby backs on Saturday. How long should the rub sit on them before cooking?

I prep and rub mine the night before, then wrap or cover and put in the fridge to cook the next day. Wrap them good, or else your fridge will smell like raw rubbed ribs!

A lot depends on the salt content of your rub. If you have a high salt content, I wouldn't go over night.

I usually only put it on the ribs a couple of hours before.

My only criteria is to get the rub on before they go into the smoker. I try to do it the night before but that doesn't always work out.

Nothin wrong with that kind of smell. Kinda lets you know what you're in store for later.

My rub doesn't have much salt and I try to do it the night before then double wrap in cellophane before placing into the fridge for the night

Well, I think we have it narrowed down to right before to the night before. LOL

You really just have to experiment and see what gives you the results you are looking for.

I do it the same way, and have great results....yet I have a friend who does it right before he smokes, and they're always great also...

Thanks all. another question. If my ribs are packed in some kind of solution (AKA Hormel Always Tender, didn't notice til after I bought them), would I want to cut back some on the salt in the rub, or doesn't that solution have much salt in it?
