Looking at getting into the pellet poopers, but now I have to decide on what to get. I've recently been looking at pitts&spitts; they seem well built and look great. Anyone have any reviews? Can't find too much on them. Buying American is important to me so I've been looking at mak, Yoder and p&s. Thanks!

There are a few posts on that brand of pellet pooper, but not much in the way of reviews. Use the search function - you may have to dig deep. From what I gather they are well known for stick-burners, and just getting into pellets. I believe they outsource their electronics. Good luck, let us know what you decide.

I own a GMG. Been thinking about a new pellet grill. Was leaning Yoder but P&S is now at the top of my list. There are many posts about them in one of the FB groups. Another stick burner manufacturer jumping into pellets. The slide out lower shelf is unique to them and is a great feature. The roll top lid is from their stick burners and makes for a usable front shelf. The controller is now a US Roanoke controller programmed to their specs. One dealer on FB sold his Mak2* and bought a P&S for himself. Apparently temps are very even left to right and top to bottom. Only downside is they aren't cheap. But their middle model is 24x36 which is huge and slots in price between the YS640 and Mak 2*. There are options not listed on their website like a right side shelf, custom fit rib racks, Wifi soon, and probably others if you ask. Built very well with the barrel 7 gauge steel and the internals similarly heavy duty. You might also look at the Blazn. Another US made quality grill with some very nice features. Good Luck.

If I were to buy a pellet grill I would go with the Lone Star Grillz. I have never been happy with the smoke profile of the pellet grills of my buddies and so have kept the offset stick burner. Lone Star seems to have an edge on other fabricators when it comes to the smoke profile of the pellet grills.

I have a Pitts and Spitts Maverick 2000. Like others have said, its built like a tank. The Controller is spot on holding set cooker temperatures, with no spikes or fluctuating temperatures, as verified using a Fireboard. In cold weather climates its slow to come up to Temperature because of the large cooking chamber, and you must adjust C-11 time frame from 30 (default) to 60; and C-10 Auger Percentage Speed from 30 (default) to 50. I do have a P&S insulated blanket, and also put a felt welders blanket under the P&S insulated blanket for additional insulation. I have used this cooker in temps below 0 with no issues. I also use this cooker on average of 3-4 times a week.

I saw a comment above that Pitts & Spitts doesn't produce much smoke. Well I invite you to check out the smoke output for a Pitts and Spitts Maverick Pellet grills at 180, 225 and 250 degrees on Youtube (3 different videos), and you can see for yourself. I am very happy with the smoke output at temps from 180 to 275, and if I need more (for bacon), a smoke tube does the trick.
