Well Smoke, I know the stress is high cause I cut out 6 x14 for channel iron vent in fb and that little piece went bong

You can try cutting ribs....  tank contour ...  and skip welding them to the door prior to the final cuts... or a design that incorporates hinge pin holes and a place to mount a handle......
