Is creosote normal in a reverse flow?  I am only burning well seasoned wood(oak)      no charcoal!

I don't get creosote with mine nor have I heard of others having that problem

I don't get it either.  Make sure you have that exhaust pipe all the way open, and control your heat with the intakes. Also that the unit is level (i actually installed a bubble level on mine ).

That's the only things i can think of.
