Reverse flow convertible to offset

I am planning my first build and I am really torn on whether I should build a offset or RF. Has anyone built one with a removable plate? I was thinking of having two stacks and just using which ever one I need for the setup I have that day. Waste of time or if I want the flexibility is it worth it?

What flexibility do you think you're gaining by doing this?

I believe I've seen that design.

tuning plates are used to direct the flow to which ever chimney you choose, and you close off the other one.

I would say to build one or the other. My experience has been that seldom is a combination of anything as good as two separate things. Think combination TV / VCR. Not saying it can’t be done just think you may end up with two compromises that are neither as good as they could have been. I’m partial to Reverse Flow.

My understanding is the biggest difference is that the reverse flow gives a more consistent temperature through out the chamber. I am probably just over thinking this as weedeater is right about combinations general not as good as either. I am using 100lb tanks so its only going to be about 36" wide so maybe it doesn't really matter...

Reverse flows do give more consistent temperatures, I'm just trying to figure out if you think you're gaining versatility by is being adjustable to a standard offset style. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with a standard offset, I currently use a 30 year old one for my big cooks, but there is nothing that a standard offset does better than a reverse flow as far as I can tell.

I had the same idea a few years ago everyone here convinced me to choose one so I went with reverse flow but im like you I am curious and would love to know the outcome
